π¬ Meet Sarah Suarez: From Student to Therapist Changing Lives
In 2017, Sarah Suarez graduated from Texas Massage Academy with a heart full of purpose β and a car full of gas. She now works at Woodhouse Day Spa in Midland, specializing in spa massage, prenatal therapy, and independent doula work. Her journey proves that when passion meets perseverance, massage therapy becomes more than a career β it becomes a calling.
βMy clients are always so excited to see me. Every single day someone tells me, βYouβre the best part of my week,β or βIβve been looking forward to this.β I leave work with a full heart every time.β
π A Commitment That Spoke Volumes
Sarah completed our Advanced Core Program in 2017, back when it was entirely in-person β before online learning was approved by TDLR. She attended as a weekend student, driving from San Angelo to Brownwood β 1.5 hours each way β every Saturday and Sunday for over 15 months.
βI loved showing up to learn. It never felt like a chore β it felt like an opportunity.β
Today, students benefit from a hybrid format, with up to 50% of the program online, saving time and gas while still getting the hands-on experience they need. But Sarahβs dedication reminds us that when the program and instructors are worth it, students show up β even if it means six hours of driving every weekend.

π Why Massage? Why Texas Massage Academy?
For Sarah, the decision to attend massage school wasnβt planned β but it felt right.
βWhen Liz invited me to registration, it just clicked. Looking back now, I 100% consider it a God thing that I ended up at Texas Massage Academy.β
What really sealed the deal?
βBrandon wasnβt just trying to make money β he was trying to create healers. He cared about us understanding the body, not just going through the motions. I had so much respect for that.β
π€° A Career Born in Prenatal Class
One moment in school changed the trajectory of Sarahβs career: her first prenatal massage.
βAfter that first prenatal session, I knew Iβd be involved in the birth space for the rest of my career. When I learned we could relieve pain that some doctors just write off as βpart of pregnancy,β it blew my mind.β
Since then, Sarah has continued to work with pregnant clients both at the spa and independently as a doula. Her dream? To one day offer prenatal massage in a birth center full-time.
π§ The People, the Passion, and Brandon
When asked what she remembers most about school, Sarah didnβt hesitate:
βThe people β the instructors, the clients, my classmates. I looked forward to class every weekend. It was never a chore.β

Though she spent more hands-on time with Melanie and Jeremiah, she credits Brandonβs passion with inspiring her deeper purpose:
βWhen Brandon talked about technique and results, you could feel how much he loved what he did. I thought to myself, βIf my job doesnβt make me that happy, Iβm in the wrong one.β Thatβs stayed with me ever since.β
π‘ Advice for Future Massage Students
βFind ways to learn anatomy that stick with you. Donβt just memorize for the test β youβll need that info long after graduation.β
βOh, and work on your core.β π

π― Whatβs Next for Sarah?
While she loves her current job at the spa, Sarahβs heart is still pulled toward the birth world.
βOne day, Iβd love to offer only prenatal massage in a birth center. Iβve thought about opening my own space, but Iβve seen the stress that can bring. For now, Iβm really happy β and Iβm still working toward that dream.β
