💆‍♀️ Massage School: Where Coffee Meets Coconut Oil

Let’s be real — going to massage school isn’t like any other type of school. There’s anatomy. There’s lotion. There are stretches you didn’t know you could do.

Whether you’re in the middle of your program, just getting started, or looking back fondly at your time at Texas Massage Academy, you’ll probably relate to at least 12 of these (if not all 17).

Cartoon-style illustration with the title “You Know You’re in Massage School When…” surrounded by items like a lotion bottle, massage table, anatomy coloring book with pen, coffee cup, a raised tired hand, and a smiling dog receiving a massage.

So without further ado…

🧠 You Know You’re in Massage School When…

1. You suddenly know the difference between origin and insertion — and it matters.

2. You’ve practiced effleurage… on your dog.

Bonus points if they now roll over voluntarily.

3. You’re correcting your family’s posture at dinner.

(“Your shoulders are internally rotated — just sayin’.”)

4. You have a favorite muscle.

(Shout out to the rhomboids, the underdog of upper back tension.)

5. You’ve massaged your friends for “homework” and now they’re spoiled.

And somehow, they never forget you have a practical coming up.

6. You say things like “Let me palpate that real quick.”

And it makes total sense to your classmates.

7. You carry lotion in your bag — just in case.

8. Your non-massage friends say, “Can I book you when you graduate?”

And your massage friends say, “Let’s stretch between classes.”

9. You’ve had a full-blown conversation using only massage terms.

Trigger points. Adhesions. Fascia. And yes, you’re fluent in Swedish.

10. You’ve asked someone in public if they know their levator scapulae is tight.

(Just doing your part for community wellness.)

11. Your hands are sore, your brain is full, and your heart is happy.

Because somehow, you’re learning more than you ever expected — about the body, and about yourself.

12. You’ve massaged on every surface: tables, floors, couches, even truck beds.

It’s called adapting your body mechanics, right?

13. You can’t unsee postural dysfunction… ever again.

That one person slouching at Target? Yeah, you noticed.

14. You’ve Googled “how to massage my own forearms.”

Spoiler: It’s not easy. But it’s possible.

15. Your classmates have become your second family.

You know everyone’s story, muscle strengths, and snack preferences.

16. You’re low-key obsessed with anatomy coloring books.

And you actually enjoy labeling diagrams now.

17. You’ve started dreaming about passing your MBLEx — and then massaging BeyoncĂŠ.

A girl can dream.

🎓 You’re Not Alone — and You’re Doing Amazing

Massage school is a wild, wonderful ride. It stretches you (literally and figuratively), challenges you, and turns you into a confident, capable massage therapist — one client at a time.

Whether you’re just starting or almost done, we see you — and we’re so proud of the hard work you’re doing.
